What is “Take Back Your Power” and why is it important?

Take Back Your Power is an award-winning documentary on the smart meter issue.  It covers the  health, privacy and financial risks posed by so-called “smart” meters and the “smart” grid.

You can see the trailer below:

Viewing Take Back Your Power is usually enough to convince most people that while the introduction of smart meters may benefit companies in the electricity industry, these meters are not a good thing for the general public.

Hosting a community screening of Take Back Your Power is one of the best ways to raise awareness of the smart meter issue.  This could be as simple as inviting family and friends to you home to watch the DVD (or you can stream the film from the website Take Back Your Power

Or, if you are more ambitious, you could hold a screening in your local community hall, church or other venue (such as sports club etc.)

If you would like to run a community screening of  Take Back Your Power please contact me through the Contact Form for more information.

Man killed in house fire; family blame “smart” meter:

The website www.takebackyourpower.net is reporting how the family of a 74 year old South Dallas man blame the smart meter which had been recently installed at his home for the fire that led to his death.  Mr James Humphrey, who had arthritis, was unable to escape from his home when it caught fire and the smoke and flames beat back neighbours who tried to rescue him.

You can read the full story (as well as some very interesting comments) at this link:

http://www.takebackyourpower.net/news/2015/02/03/smart-meter-fire-kills-74-year-old-man-dallas-tx/

The statistics kept by the NZ Fire Service do not allow smart meter related fires to be differentiated from fires that are caused by other types of meters or meter board faults.  See this link for details: www.stopsmartmeters.org.nz/latest-news/are-smart-meters-causing-fires-in-new-zealand/

If you are aware of a smart meter related fire in NZ, please report it to Stop Smart Meters NZ through this link: www.stopsmartmeters.org.nz/contact-us/

Any reports will be treated in confidence.  Thank you.

Commissioner’s private emails show he knew smart meters were causing harm but did not act to protect the public

The website of the award-winning smart meter documentary Take Back Your Power (www.takebackyourpower.net) has reported on how emails of the former president of the California Public Utilities Commission show that he was aware of adverse health effects from smart meters from as early as 2010 but chose not to do anything to protect public health. He was similarly aware of the problems with high bills after smart meter installations but did nothing to stop the smart meter roll out from going ahead.

You can read excerpts from key emails at this link:

Is electropollution the worst health threat we face?

If you have been wondering why there are so many people that you know battling cancer or some other degenerative disease, perhaps the answer may be as close as the DECT cordless phone base on your friend’s bedside table,  the smart meter on their bedroom wall,  the wi-fi router on their work desk, or the smart phone in their breast pocket…or perhaps all of these things  in combination…?

Modern wireless technologies that produce radiofrequency radiation (RFR) that can damage DNA (with high enough exposures) are in common use and believed by most people to be safe?

A new post on the website of the award-winning smart meter documentary Take Back Your Power* examines the proliferation of wireless technologies and asks whether we are unwittingly putting our health at risk through uncritical adoption of new high-tech gadgetry.
